The lymphatic system is a vital part of life. We cannot survive 24 hours without it working.
It’s a mirror to our blood circulation, having a capillary networks throughout the body, that transport waste materials and white blood cells, clearing toxins from every cell. It consists of capillaries, vessels, nodes and organs, which transport a milky white fluid, called lymph, it helps to regulate our fluid balance and defend against infections throughout the body.
How does MLD benefit the lymphatic system?
The lymphatic system relies on breathing and muscular movement to function properly. The purpose of MLD is to encourage the natural lymphatic pulse of the body and decongest areas where there is a build up, from a system that may be sluggish, compromised or in a state of recovery after injury or illness and provide a homeostasis throughout the body. By supporting the lymphatic system we a promoting our health, wellbeing and vitality, and improving our natural immunity.

Our body contains around 60% water, skin contains around 64% which needs to be cleansed and replaced constantly by the lymphatic system, this is something to bear in mind daily, when most of us dehydrate our body and skin by not drinking enough water. When this happens the skin becomes lifeless, dull, dehydrated, dry, irritated which then may lead to breakouts. Our skin is also our largest organ in the body and it is the first line of defence against infection.
A well-functioning lymphatic system is essential for clear, healthy skin. By transporting toxins, waste and excess fluid away from tissues, it helps to prevent congestion, inflammation, and dullness.
When working at its best it will reduce puffiness, dry skin and breakouts.
It enhances nutrient delivery to the cells, and improves the vitality of the skin, energising the skin and the body. It brightens the complexion, improves tone and reduces sensitivities.
